Is it my imagination or is this team slowly getting better? I'm beginning to think another year or two of Hammond and Skiles could be something special in Milwaukee.

Your thoughts?

I miss Sidney Moncreif, Marques Johnson, Brian Winters, Paul Pressey, Jack Sikma, Bob Lanier, and even Randy Breuer!

Paul Pressey...haven't heard that name in a long time. I remember a guy who could practically touch his toes while standing erect.

...and don't forget Craig Hodges! Or Junior Bridgeman! Or Paul Mokeski!

The Bucks could possibly squeak in as one of the lower seeded teams in the east. There is a log jam there and the Bucks play a pretty favorable schedule. However, I'm not expecting too much from them until the Redd and Gadzuric contracts come off the books. 2011 should be a good year for them. Hammond knows what he's doing.

What a great downtown shooter Hodges was.
Mokeski looked like Frankenstein's cousin. Or Kevin McHale's cousin.

Ya know, that's the scary thing. No one remembers how awful they were when Skiles and Hammond took over. For us to even be talking playoffs right now is nothing short of astonishing.

I look for ways for this team to get better. The only two I can see (other than depth off the bench) is Power Forward and Shooting Guard. Anyone know some names in the draft that could be there when the Bucks pick?

Milwaukee only four games under .500, to me, that is flat out amazing! Brandon Jennings is a damn stud.

Love to see if they can address PF, and maybe move Michael Redd and grab a different SG who can actually play defense.

Redd has a $13 million player option for next year, and coming off back to back injuries on the same knee, he wont be going anywhere. I was hoping Meeks would step up but I haven't seen him play in weeks.

As for PF you should check this out:

http://community.sportsbubbler.....fault.aspx

I run into this guy at my bar every once in a while and we talk Bucks. He's convince the PF position for MKE is jinxed. He lays out a pretty good case. In all honesty, I like Illyasova but I would like to see a rebounding/defensive specialist at that position opposite of Bogut. Add a SG that plays decent defense and can shoot, add a little luck (no one gets hurt) and you have yourself a playoff team.

Just when you think the Bucks are capable of doing something, they go and lay an egg against a team like Detroit that is not very good to begin with, but even worse when on the road. How do they play that poorly against a weaker opponent when they are trying to make a push for playoff contention?

Playoffs? Yeah, right. They're just good enough to piss you off.

I was a big Bucks head growing up, mainly in the '80s. Had the Sir Sid poster on my door, all those guys you named earlier in the thread....forgot Alton Lister, Ricky Pierce and Terry Cummings. T.C. ruled. Pierce was a defensive ace and two-time Sixth Man Award winner. Even Moses Malone came on for a few productive seasons. Interestingly, we got Cummings, Hodges and Pierce from the Clippers for Bridgeman, Marques Johnson and Harvey Catchings in an '84 trade. We definitely got the better end of that one. We trade a couple aging players and a guy named Catchings for three guys just beginning stellar careers. The Clippers curse.

Like you, I always viewed Hodges as a premier 3-point threat, but looking at his rankings they are pretty pedestrian. His career percentage mark of .399 ranks him 30th, and 3-pointers made of 563 puts him at 148th on the all time list. Hell, Mike Miller, that white kid out of Florida is at 34th with 1208.

It's hard for me to get into the NBA like I used to. There were so many great players back in the '70s and '80s. When Jordan, Bird, and Magic left it became a different landscape. Can't forget Olajuwan or Clyde the Glide. Now it is all about bling and thuggery. The only players I really like these days are Chris Paul, Steve Nash and Nowitski. Dude is a freak. Love Ray Allen, last of a dying breed. No more Tim Hardaway, Chris Mullin or Reggie Miller.

I was a Jack Sikma fan myself. Never seen a C be able to shoot the 3 pointer since then. Truthfully, he was probably playing outta position at C. More of a F.

I loved Moncrief and Marques Johnson.
I was a great basketball player myself as a teen, went to Kevin McHale's Basketball Camp in about 1982-83, and remember asking the big Frankestein a question in front of the whole camp:
I asked him who was better, Marques or Larry Bird.

I recall him basically not choosing.... Marques was great. But of course after that, Bird rose to Legend and the Bucks never could get past both the Celtics and Sixers in a playoff.
